THE TEN WORDS

Our practice is a holistic set of 10 guidelines - single words - distilled from the common principles and aspirations of spiritual life as expressed through all the world’s faith and wisdom traditions supported by modern science, psychology and art. We call them, simply, The Ten Words.

Taken together, we consider them the foundation for a spiritually focused, transformational, and engaged life in today’s world. Through an inquiry-based process, they guide us in discovering ourselves and God/Source/Divine/Ultimate Reality and how we want to live in relationship to that Reality – both spiritually and through action in the world.

Each word is like a guidepost or a viewpoint: a place to stop, observe, and explore. They are simple in appearance, but each one has levels of depth that only become apparent as you explore them. In practice, The Ten Words are questions to be lived into, not doctrine or dogma.

Each Mountaineer determines their own understanding and the specific ways each of the words appear in practice for themselves, or the way they walk the path. The only goal is the journey itself, which, we believe will lead us toward happier, more fulfilled, and more spiritually engaged lives.

HOW YOU CAN USE THE TEN WORDS

The Ten Words can be used by individuals or groups. You don’t have to be a member of Three Mountains to use it. In fact, we think everyone should explore The Ten Words. It might make the world a better place for all of us.

TEN WORDS is a transformative and powerful practice that fit easily into my daily living. The pace at which we explored the words made it really easy to integrate their lessons. They flowed naturally from one to the next, deepening my relationship with myself and others, and to the Divine — the sacred and the profane.
